Take 317

7 Quick Takes Friday
--- 1 ---
Brian went on a business trip last week and he flew back last Friday--which is my day off! It was a treat to be able to meet him at the airport--and not drag along two kids for the adventure. But you know what was really crazy? I could pull up a live-tracker map of my husband's plane! Crazy.

I've learned something about myself this week. When I buckle up and just get one chore completed in the morning, I get what I'd compare to an exercise high (not that I know what those feel like--let's be real). I completed one chore last weekend in the early morning and the whole day that followed was productive and happy-feeling. But here's the thing--if I didn't buckle up and get started, I think the day could've gone totally differently, and my sense of accomplishment would've been out the window.

Note to self: just do one thing and cross it off the list. It gets the day going and makes me feel like the queen of my world.

Did you know that s'mores in Germany don't have chocolate in them?

I know. I'll give you a minute to shed some tears over that. It really is so tragic.

Guys. I found a Tripp Trapp chair at our local thrift shop for 5 €. FIVE EUROS! Poor Rowan has been eating while kneeling on her knees for at least a year. And then?! I found a second one for 20 €! I'm totally buying it, not because George is the right size for needing one, but because we host other kids a lot and Thanksgiving is coming--and I can see the chair issue already. Lol.

I don't know what it's like when you watch sports in your home... But in ours, Rowan stares closely at the screen in the beginning of every game--and whether it's European or American football, she whips around and asks, "Which one is Rudy?!"

I indulged in the Isermarkt--an outdoor market between two train stations in the walkway under the tracks both last Friday and today... and it's just so wonderful. Fresh produce, quality meat, a few crafty items... and espresso. Always the good espresso here in Germany.

Happy weekend to you! We're snuggling in for a weekend of rest, some homemade baked items, and warmth when it's downright Autumn outside--cold, rainy, and especially dark. I'm looking forward to it. Hygge me. Or whatever the young folks say. :)

Happy Friday!
