Take 206

7 Quick Takes Friday
--- 1 ---
We're here! Harvard welcomed us and gave me an ID that will give me all sorts of access work on the laundry room door. We're settling in and I have completed my first full day of employment. It's crazy. And yes, I do feel a bit exhausted. But, I survived the commuting, and yes, the way home does take an hour... I let two trains pass because they were full and then squeezed my way on to the third out of sheer will because my babies were on the other end of that train. Giddy up for my second day and last day of the week (such a smart decision to begin work on a Thursday).
--- 2 ---
Moving in was an adventure. I must say, I got pretty tired of every need feeling like an emergency which sent us rifling through all sorts of boxes looking for one tiny item. Thankfully, I think we're beyond that phase.
--- 3 ---
Thanks to all the excitement/chaos of our move... I stole a towel from our hotel in NYC. And then? I stole a towel from my Grandma. Hah! Apparently, I have a problem.
--- 4 ---
We're in the land of new accents. Worcester is definitely Wooster. But, I'll admit that I've talked with maybe only three people who have the Boston accent that we'd expect. I look forward to hearing more.
--- 5 ---
All audio books should have a listed total amount of time. In the Overdrive app, I have not figured out how to get this information and it drives me crazy. I like to know what I'm getting into.
--- 6 ---
I could not believe the speed with which the revolving doors at my work place were going as I left the building for lunch. I could barely keep pace--and I'm not a slow walker!
--- 7 ---
Thanks to Brian and Virginia who championed beautifully through their first day of my work today--going to Trader Joe's and buying ingredients for a yummy celebratory dinner, giving the kids long naps and supporting me. I'm so proud to be with y'all this year. It's a grand adventure!

Happy Friday!

PS- I know a new home update and photos would've been nice today... I promise to deliver! Just not today :)

  1. Glad to hear you're settling in already!
I'm with you on the Overdrive audio books. I started one the other day that is over 20 hours long; that's with me speeding it up a bit! No way will I get through with it within the short lending period, and there's a hold list so I'll have to go back to the end of the line to check it back out.

  2. I love to read from Overdrive, so length of audio isn't an issue. Congrats on the job, and so sorry about the commute. :P Yikes, where do you have to go, Connecticut??? LOL :D
