Take 346

7 Quick Takes Friday
--- 1 ---
We had a Baptism! We had dreams of a baptism in the US of A this summer with family... but alas... COVID. But, the details came together and a small group of our friends gathered to celebrate with us... and Clancy is officially a Christian! Hooray!
--- 2 ---
I had read somewhere about how nursing a baby creates a necessary and helpful break for both baby and Mama... especially during times of socializing. I was amazed that directly after the Baptism, I had assessed that Clancy definitely needed a nap. So, I took him upstairs, nursed him in the dark quiet, and Voila! He did not need a nap. He just needed a break. And I was amazed that he reappeared (for his own party!) fresh and ready to smile at people.

And you know what? It totally helped me, too! Lol.

We found a small way to share more of our family culture with our friends through this event by making my Grandma Mary's New York Cheesecake. No one complained!
I took the time to try to bring my cheesecake to the next level and watched a "How to" video beforehand. It was absolutely the first time I made a cheesecake and didn't have the top crack in the process of baking. #Winning

We've been reading Henry Huggins by Beverly Cleary. I finally remembered why I keep mistaking his name for Henry Higgins... Thank you, Liza. (My Fair Lady). In other news, Henry Huggins lives on Klickitat street. I'm completely incapable of saying that street name.
--- 5 ---
The poem Warning by Shel Silvertein. It's so apropos for Corona time... LOL. Go have a listen!
--- 6 ---
Thanks to the NYTimes daily briefing for informing me that Bob Ross permed his hair to save money. Somehow, this just seems... amazing.

Three cheers for Patrick and Emma as they get married today! We've got the champagne to pop all the way over here in Germany... and we're so sad to not be there in person! But we're sending our love!

Happy wedding day, Emma and Patrick!
