7 Quick Takes Friday

This was them at Grandma's 90th birthday celebration. While of course it is hard, we are very relieved that he's done suffering and I'm so glad that my Mom and her immediate family and cousins to be able to gather this week.
Brian's grandmother also lost her sister, Aunt Kathy, in the past week. I've been struck with all of the kind posts, sharing of photos and love. People: Hug your people. Tell them you love them. It's so important.
We have a little snow on the ground today! It's our first of the season, really, and it doesn't usually last long... and it's my day off! So, I went to the woods and enjoyed the most amazing views...
The is my sister's family's Countdown to Christmas ornament. My children have already been asking when Santa returns... and I just wanted to say: this ornament is too fun. Snow is here... but Santa has a whole year to prep! #ThankGoodness.
The snow is just in time, really. Yesterday was the first day of the 2018-19 school year when I wore leggings as an addition to my dress at work. I get a lot of comments in Germany about how I must be freezing... and those comments begin in October! This girl hates tights, nylons, etc. But yesterday? I was warm all day in my under-my-dress leggings. It might take me until January, but I do eventually face-the-winter-music.
I mean, I got such a good laugh over what a sock on my face would look like... but I clicked. It's just socks. With your face on it. Lol. 40%--go get yerself some! #NoThanks
But, it got me thinking... maybe I should use the months to set goals this year... In other words, treat the first of each month like the first of the year and set some goals... achievable 30 day goals. We'll see how that works. For now, I'll set a reminder for the end of each month to assess success and set new goals for the next month.

It has been a long week and next week will come with its own challenges. I haven't shared too much about my journey since my last Physical Therapy work, but I'm really working on slowing down. Today, I set myself free to slow down. (Thanks for the encouragement, Brian.) Photos in the woods, a quick trip to the store to provide for a cozy lunch at home, a nap on the sofa with the sunshine soaking into my skin... no alarm set... and then capped off with homemade chocolate chip scones and a cappuccino. I need less stress. And today? I succeeded.
Hoping your weekend ahead is also filled with an opportunity for real rest and re-creation.
